Forest School is invaluable in developing and raising children’s self- esteem through child-led activities which support and encourage them to achieve.
These activities are linked to the learning in the classroom and give children memorable experiences in an outdoor setting that they can then apply in all of their learning. Through small achievable tasks, children begin to build resilience and have the confidence to risk-taking in a supportive yet challenging environment.
At Coughton C of E Primary School, we are extremely fortunate to have access to two forest school settings. Our own site, within the school grounds, and the beautiful, serene woodland at Coughton Court. Every child in our setting has a series of Forest School sessions every academic year.
What equipment will your child need?
Long trousers (waterproof trousers if possible)
Long sleeve T-shirt, sweatshirt, fleece top (layers are best for colder days)
Hat (depending on the weather)
Waterproof jacket (this is essential in case of rain)
Forest School is only cancelled due to high winds or electrical storms, so these clothes will get dirty.
